The WSIS secretariat has released an opinion survey at the WSIS official website.

Groups are being urged to share their inputs on the second meeting of the Preparatory Committee (Prepcom2) of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS).

The WSIS Gender Caucus (GC) announced that it is going to launch a programme of small grants to support innovative research on gender and information communications technologies (ICT).

Many events are now being announced as run-ups to the Tunis Phase of WSIS in 2005, and the focus on gender is included in some of the regional efforts.

A roundtable discussion on Women's Human Rights in the Information Society was organised by the Committee of NGOs (CONGO) and the Commission on the Status of Women on 08 December 2003. The forum sought to clarify women's rights issues, interrogate the concept of empowerment, and share best practices around women's use of ICT as a side event in the ongoing World Summit on the Information Society in Geneva.

Amid all the hype at the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) about the potential of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) to transform lives, critical voices were raised at the same venue pointing out how these technologies sustain, if not create more oppression for much of the world's women.
